The Credo Girls varsity soccer team has persevered through a series of difficult games. Their second match against Kelseyville was a tough 3-0 loss. Player of the game, goalkeeper Emily Bottini, earned her title: saving an astounding 7 goals as well as being a constant voice of positivity and guidance for the team.
Credo’s next match was against Middletown, who they had previously beat last season to earn first place in division II. The team battled through the heat to pull out a 1-0 victory, defending their title. Captain and striker Camille Rebolledo scored her first goal of the season off a beautiful cross by Bianca Cruz. The player of the game, Nora Richardson, was invaluable on defense, making spectacular steals that had the bench on its feet.
The week culminated in a match against Tech, Credo’s unofficial rivals. It was a hard fought battle, ultimately ending in a 3-0 loss against the former league champions. Freshman Wing Sophia Lofaro stood out with incredible passes and tenacity. Credo’s defense were the unsung heroes, showing composure, persistence and resilience time and time again.
